Monopoly on Socso virus testing troubling, MTUC says

The government initially made Covid-19 testing compulsory for all workers, but has since changed its tune, saying the requirement is only for foreigners employed in the construction sector. – AFP pic, May 11, 2020.

THE Social Security Organisation’s Covid-19 screening programme for migrant workers should not be done only by one healthcare provider as this will cause delays and raise the risk of infection as more businesses reopen, said the Malaysian Trades Union Congress . MTUC secretary-general J. Solomon, in a statement today, said Putrajaya should review Socso’s decision to appoint BP Healthcare as the sole company for the purpose, so as to ensure transparency.
