Psychiatrist Patrick McGorry says every recession is "followed by rising risks of suicide" amid a report revealing the effects of the stringent coronavirus lockdown restrictions on mental health. If the at risk population for example lose their job or experience "other stresses that result from such a huge disruption to society" it could push them "closer to the edge of the cliff". He said the young are "particularly vulnerable to these kind of risks," as there is an increase in insecurity in a demographic which already bears "the main burden of mental health".
