PETALING JAYA: Cases of influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and severe acute respiratory illnesses (SARI) have reduced since last week, says Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The Health director-general said the reduction of these cases indicated that the ministry had managed to contain the spread of Covid-19.

“At the start, the cases were increasing. But last week and this week, we have noticed the cases decreasing. He said, for example, they had screened and tested 7,255 people who were undergoing operations — in emergency and semi-emergency cases — but only five were found to be positive for Covid-19 or a rate of 0.1%.

Dr Hisham said they would get another 50,000 antigen Rapid Test Kits , and this would enable them to widen their surveillance of ILI cases at their sentinel clinics.
