The National Public Health Emergency Team is to make recommendations to Government following a meeting tomorrow.
Last night, it was revealed that a further 31 deaths due to Covid-19 had been reported, bringing the total number of people who have died to 1,190 and a second person under the age of 24 has died. Meanwhile, the total number of cases has exceeded 20,000 with 376 additional cases reported yesterday. Dr Holohan said that the country is making great progress in slowing the growth rate of the disease but that with more than a 100 people in intensive care units and hundreds of others in hospital with Covid-19, he was not in a position to recommend easing restrictions.Covid-19 restrictions: How and when may they be lifted? He said further advice will be given to Government tomorrow but that as of now he does not anticipate that his advice will change.
Details were also given of deaths in nursing homes with over 3,200 deaths overall in nursing homes between January and April of this year and of those Covid-19 accounted for 586, while 16 people in residential facilities for people with disabilities lost their lives due to the disease.

So because they've failed to get adequate testing in place we're all paying the consequences. The country is going to go bust and we're going to pay for this for a long time.
If CMOIreland doesn't recommend LeoVaradkar to ease even the most minor COVID19 restriction on Tuesday they're going to completely lose the tiny bit of trust the public have in them. Complacency will be the least of of their worries. The public aren't stupid & need something.
