Speaking directly to the health secretary onon Tuesday, Intisar said:"The public is not expecting the government to handle this perfectly. We just want you to openly acknowledge there have been mistakes in handling this virus.
Mr Hancock responded:"It is very important that we are constantly learning about how to do things better and I think listening to the voices on the front line will be a very important part of how we improve."Mr Hancock said it was important to constantly learn how to improve as the outbreak continues
"I definitely do want a public apology because I feel like the government's response in not only handling the PPE crisis but the whole virus in itself wasn't the best," he said. "But they need to hold themselves accountable for that, learn from that and move on so that we can trust them more."
Stop spinning.
Just watched Emily Maitlis and left winger Goodell on Newsnight revelling in the number of deaths in Care Homes, while talking to people in hoods, probably not even in NHS! No wonder Public opinion of BBC news has never been so low!
Maybe more to do with the fact that he was Asian, probably overweight and had a pre existing condition and lived in house full of other people like packed sardines..
No chance. That would be like he has some responsibility for anything he says or does& none of them go into politics for that!
I am not sure that blaming others should be the priority at the moment. It simply doesn’t help us through.
Try some shampoo on that mop!
BBCPolitics What for. The bbc should apologise for it’s appalling reporting without full facts
FakeNewsMediaClowns DefundTheBBC
BBCPolitics How about an apology from the wildlife market in Wuhan where all this started?
Can I get an apology from the doctor that told me my mum was constipated two days before she died of bowel cancer.
I think the BBC should apologise for the poor journalism they have given to covid-19 news stories.
He wont admit there where mistakes so that must mean they where delibrate. Boris Johnson Called the NHS the Beating Heart of the Country well matt Hand-cock his heart disease
Totally agree
BBCPolitics Tiresome BBC at it again!
I am really sick of this. The world has never faced a pandemic like this. Yet all people want to do is lay blame on the government for something nothing could have prepared us for. Of course mistakes will have got made, people are humans not robots. But they are doing their best!
Sorry kid but this uptight Brits will never apologise.
They’re sheer incompetence and lies should not be allowed to go unchallenged. ☘️☘️☘️☘️
Idiots line this need a slap into reality
How do you feel about ppe shortage then seeing all the medical professionals dancing roung in it
BBCPolitics I really hope he doesn't
Hancock & the government basically admitted it when they offered only bereaved NHS families a £60,000 payoff.
It would be extremely inappropriate for an apology to one family. I also question why the media are getting people on who have no knowledge of the facts to comment on the situation.
witty_krypton 😢😢
Perhaps he should be addressing the highly paid folk responsible for purchasing and stock levels at the relevant NHS Trust NHS.
Apologise for a global pandemic !? The likes of which had never been seen before !! Every country in the world will have made mistakes. Wish the BBC would go off and report on this 🤷♂️
No chance. This government doubles down on its mistakes, and as a policy pursues spin over substance.
It's a pandemic. As sad as it is, people will die. That's unfortunately life. You can apologise for every death. Sorry, but this is unreasonable
Sometimes the right decision isn't the post popular. There will be an enquiry at the end to see where lessons can be learned once we are in a better place as a country. Let's wait for the enquiry and its findings
Let me guess is he a labour activists by any chance?
He no British
pushing government accountbility they gonna start blaming China
This is a very sad situation that we are all in. I don't think ANY government would have prevented inevitable but tragic deaths. This is a new situation to us all. I understand this young man's need for answers.
Why are people blaming the government for this virus Boris dose not have a glass ball why not just blame the world
Most of it is hospital management fault
What difference is it going to make
Inb4 'Lefty activist/politically motivated attack'
Oh dear,, oh i forgot its the BBC
Died WITH Coronavirus? Also, I seem to recall that this doctor contracted the virus whilst on holiday and he asked for PPE upon his return?
Sadly I dont think the government know how to say sorry, just how to lie! Thoughts are with everyone who has lost loved ones because of the governments incompetences😢
Is the queen going to abdicate. Precisely
Why the government is doing great we should probably give them a clap 👏
BBCPolitics The article doesn't seem to say what the poor doctor died from, it only says he died 'with' a coronavirus.
No don’t apologise
Outrageous. Playing the blame game at a time like this. I suppose the BBC will be publishing apology demands from soldiers son's whose father's have been shot dead in battle. NOBODY was prepared for this. GET A GRIP.
No apologies will bring there love ones back. It’s really heartbreaking. How the government has failed the NHS and the people in the community. Real shame
So much for all pulling together, the rips have started already.
