Another patient, who contracted the coronavirus disease in Katsina State, has died. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control revealed this yesterday on its website. With this, the state now has two deaths from the disease.
But samples that were taken from the deceased returned positive, a situation which led authorities to take samples of his wife, two children and several contacts. Katsina, Batagarawa, Mani, Jibia, Dutsinma, Daura, and Safana councils have been locked down after cases of the disease were discovered. Currently, the state has 30 confirmed cases, with 24 active, four discharged and two dead.
The contacts of the new cases are being traced, so that they can be monitored and tested. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Mohammed-Baloni, said the new patients had been moved to the Infectious Diseases Control Centre, the state’s premier isolation centre.
