This came as the Nigeria Army, at its checkpoint in Nsukka intercepted over 30 vehicles loaded with passengers who were passing through the state.

to enforce total lockdown of all boundaries in the state, except movement related to essential duties.

The governor stressed that the strict enforcement of the restriction order at the state’s boundaries and other precautionary measures were in the best interest of the public. Some of the passengers, who were mostly from Northern parts of the country, according to the security officials on duty at the Nsukka Military Checkpoint, covered themselves with bags of food items.

This is as it mulls compulsory use of facemasks in public places by residents as part of measures to contain the spread of the virus. Although the first documented cases of a couple in the state had been treated and discharged, The Guardian however gathered that the team, which comprised doctors and other specialists, was different from the regular health experts working in various hospitals in the state.
