NCDC Warns against Relaxing COVID-19 Measures, Says Nigeria Not Yet Out of Danger Zone

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has warned that the country can ill afford to relax now on measures being pursued to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

While speaking at briefing, Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire said that federal government was worried that a good number of health workers may be knocked down by COVID-19 thus incapacitating the health sector if they failed to take adequate measures to protect themselves. Ehanire explained that the high number of new cases was due to on-going community transmission and active case search.

Also the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Kayemo, assured the affected health workers of the ministry’s readiness to act as reconciliators between them and their employers if they bring up the matter. “I think it is important to emphasize as the minister had said the issue of scaling up occupational health and safety. Looking at the number of health workers that have been infected so far I think there is no gainsaying that health workers need to protect themselves first before offering service to others,” he said.

NLC’s intervention came on the heals of outcry by some pensioners who have waited in vain for PENCOM to release fund to Pension Fund Administrators to take care of the elderly Nigerians.

You advice we stay at home but you can not that they give us some palliatives

Fools posing as leaders. What did you provide for your masses? Let is clap for you. I'm angry

What exactly is the essence of the Nigerian lockdown. We are just copying what we dont understand. Western countries are trying to bend the curve with lockdown. I dont see what ours has achieved or will achieve. NCDC should explain

We have stayed at home for one month and I know we will still survive even it's extended, God 🙏 forbid it spread more than this.

You are all mad people

Even WHO says the coronavirus is here until a vaccine is found. What exactly is NCDC advising? Perpetual lockdown in hunger and fear of the unknown?

Our scientists are lazy and they seems unqualified, they ought to have known that this corona virus can’t survive in warm temperatures, they ought to have done basic research

Do u guys consider Nigerians that doesn't have food to eat for a month now ,ask the government to give us palliative before we all dies., as covid-19 is real so is hunger .

Hope you guys are ok ? Pls open road for us. You can remain inside if you choose to do so.

Signs of extra one month lockdown
