PM's 'road to recovery talk' panned by state officials | Sky News Australia

State officials think Scott Morrison’s “road to recovery talk” is premature as they hold concerns a cure may not be on the horizon, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell. Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Thursday reaffirmed Australia was on “the road back to a COVID-safe economy”, telling reporters the nation had made “good progress” as he looks to potentially ease restrictions in three weeks' time.

But Mr Clennell outlined sources have told him that talk is “premature” and state officials expect there to be another peak. “State officials don’t like this road to recovery talk. They think it’s premature and another peak will surely come once the restrictions come off,” he said. “As one state official put to me this morning, ‘we are concerned about there not being a vaccine or anti viral treatment for 12 to 18 months, or there never being a vaccine or anti viral treatment’”.
