Sponsored by tobacco companies?

Remember when doctors were used to advertise the medical benefits of smoking? All that coughing did your lungs a power of good.

The research hasn't even been properly peer reviewed... The study could be completely flawed and you've just taken it at face value...

I wonder if this is somehow related to blood clots and the particular blood thinner the patients were on.

Nicotine occurs in some vegetables too, like potatoes 🥔 and eggplant 🍆 Can’t I just eat those instead, I only quit smoking in November 😂

This is the frenchest thing since french fries!

People already been distancing themselves from smokers for years.

Aren't the French some of the smokingest people around? If there was a correlation, it would be observed there.

You have to actually read the study attached to the Guardian article. They are guessing about nicotine's interaction with ACE2 and potential downregulation of the inflammatory response.

This is interesting. People are quick to pounce on anything smoking or smoking adjacent (I get it), but that doesn’t mean nicotine may not have some protective effect here. Worth investigating since there are many ways to get nicotine without smoke.

I stopped smoking cigarettes 12/17/14 and took up chewing nicorette gum to help me kick the nicotine habit. I’m still chewing them and a long time ago decided I don’t care 🤷‍♀️ I can not trust my willpower. Can nicorettes help, if this is true? 🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞

Experts, FDA included, claim smokers are at higher risk of CATCHING the Coronavirus, even as high as 14 times higher. Yet French studies show the opposite is true and in France nicotine patches are now used to both treat & prevent the virus. Like wtf, who are we to believe?

I guess it's not the nicotine. The virus requires living cells for replication, but the lung cells of smokers are either dead or covered by an impenetrable layer of tar and phlegm.

Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis 30 years ago. Had quit smoking 6 months prior. Started smoking again 2 years later (dumbshit), but the colitis went into remission. Colitis is an over reactive immune system issue..possibly same effect with the virus? Dampens the immune response?

How incredibly bleeding French?!?😗

If that was true the high deaths in male chinese, 80% of whom smoke, will need explaining.

Sometime before researchers said smokers are more vulnerable to corona virus and now what?

Better not be Camel cigarette patches ... that's were MERS came from.

Is it just me or are French Medical Researchers really thinking out of the box - in a loony tunes way? They were the ones who set the hare running about Trump's favourite cardiac-trigger Hydroxycholorquine.

Wouldn't that be ironic?

smokersrule nicotine. really? I'm lighting up right now!🤣

Summary: Study conducted in a major hospital in Paris suggests that a substance in tobacco (possibly Nicotine) can help stop the virus from reaching the body’s cells and also reduce overreaction of the immune system for severe cases. Not conclusive as it is yet to be approved.

Is this the same guy who came with the malaria drug? Because he tend to fix his numbers...

If only there was a safer alternative to nicotine combustion. Oh right there is, vaping. But you've all been scared off of that because tobacco company lobbyists lied to you. Save your life. Switch to vaping.

Considering the virus attacks the lungs , unlikely . COVIDー19

fake news the science is here

lucas_asa kkkkk mais um estudo bancado pelo albert

really an interesting news...

vape high nicotine eliquid

come on dumbest thing i have ever hear ..i guess its the tar covering the lungs the virus can't penetrate that just crazy talk

Strange but more male smokers have died of it than any other group!

Waiting for morons to start saying 'Smoking prevents Sars-cov2 infection'.

Why does Trump have money in that as well?
