John “Sean” Murray, 85, died on Monday after battling with the deadly virus for 13 days.
Liz added: “He had cancer 23 years ago and got a new lease of life after that. That didn’t kill him but sadly he was taken away by this virus which is very unfair when you think of it that way.” “He and my mam would absolutely love it and it would give her a boost at this horrible time if he was in the paper he loved.
She added: “With the little breath that he had left he was ringing up to talk to mam to see that she was OK. He fought really hard for his life but it wasn’t enough.” His heartbroken daughter revealed her father was a carpenter/joiner all his life and although his name was John everyone knew him as Sean.
“He loved pitch ‘n’ putt and he took to that like a duck to water and he became very good at it over the years.
