Health care workers Brittanny and Bryce Budimir live in Kankakee, Illinois, and have three children. This photo was taken before the COVID-19 pandemic prompted them to send their children to live with their grandparents. This is part of Essential Voices, a series of interviews with people confronting COVID-19.
It definitely is anxiety-provoking. You know, I’ve heard a lot of nurses say, ‘Well, we didn’t sign up for this.’ But we did sign up for this, and that’s why we all continue to show up because we love our patients. There have been several times where, you know, if we can just get a mask and goggles on, we’ve got to go because these patients are dying very quickly. It’s been a completely new experience for us.

ILNewsroom Kids do not die from COVID-19, and their kids aren't going to school, so what was the point? Do these healthcare workers not understand that we have to develop herd immunity?
ILNewsroom It is heart wrenching that our warriors on the front line of this battle have to fear endangering their families.
ILNewsroom these are the real heroes, not some idiot who can jump and dunk a ball. These entertainers make 100s of millions. We need to totally change this system we have. Even CEOs, if they didn't start the company they should be paid 10x of the lowest paid employee( total pay/benefits)
ILNewsroom I hope disneyworld has a full all expenses paid weekend for families of healthcare workers like this to reconnect and have fun when this crisis is over. This whole family is sacrificing for the good of their community. They deserve it!
