Health DG says Malaysia learning from Singapore which recorded a spike in cases of late FMTNews Covid19 MassScreening ForeignWorker

About 400 foreign workers from the Selayang wholesale market were brought to Dewan Komuniti Batu Muda for Covid-19 screening on April 15.

PUTRAJAYA: The health ministry will conduct mass screening of foreign workers at Covid-19 hotspots in the country. Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Malaysia was learning from Singapore, which had recorded a spike in the number of cases of late, with a vast majority of patients comprising foreign workers.

Singapore’s health ministry today confirmed 942 more Covid-19 infections, a new daily record, the vast majority of whom are migrant workers living in dormitories. The city-state has now 5,992 cases, with 11 deaths. Hisham maintained that the mass screenings will be targeted and conducted in areas with a high number of cases.
