US President Donald Trump has estimated the nation's death toll to reach 60,000 to 65,000 as a result of COVID-19.
Trump said 5.5 million testing swabs would be sent out to various states, but said it will be up the individual states to utilise those testing capabilities. In the ensuing six weeks, lethal outbreaks have continued to ravage nursing homes across the nation. A nationwide tally by The New York Times found the number of people living in or connected to nursing homes who have died of the coronavirus to be at least 7,000.
"They're death pits," said Betsy McCaughey, a former lieutenant governor of New York who founded the Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths, an education campaign aimed at stopping hospital-acquired infections. "These nursing homes are already overwhelmed. They're crowded and they're understaffed. One COVID-positive patient in a nursing home produces carnage.
Trumps estimates may have to revised. He thinks campaign rallies in stadiums would a good start. That meet with a chorus of 'do it and make sure they are packed in' Then his support for this a bit strange. Does he wants to kill off his support base.
