SINGAPORE - Private mental health practitioners were left disappointed by the removal of psychological treatment from the"essential services" exempted from workplace closures which took effect last Tuesday .
Community mental health services, which made the list, have also been asked to be delivered remotely where possible. Nominated MP Anthea Ong said she was disappointed by the omission of psychological treatment from the"essential services" list. SPS president Cherie Chan said of the omission:"It sends a message suggesting that it is less important during this time of need."
This is definitely an essential service
Honestly lockdowns might work but we cant sacrifice mental wellbeing. The number of covidiots will decrease drastically if people can realize that not everyone will necessarily be safe and healthy in isolation.
Anyone worrying about the medications, They’ll be delivered to us. Sadly some people can’t rely only on medications but a professional to talk to. I could hear the dissapointment in the voice of my psychologist when he called me.
Very disappointing
Wait for someone to run out of meds and storm the police station with machete. Or maybe 5 supermen flying per day. Then and only then will it magically become essential.
What if patients run out of medication?
Seriously? You will know the consequences of your doing soon. Once your people turn to alcohol and drugs to distress themselves. You gonna turn tails and punish them for your own acts. Very rational thinking you get there.
Everyone thinks they’re essential. 🙄 even the barber
It’s about time that countries across the world acknowledge the importance of mental health support and assistance. Get with the times, the stigma is of another era. Good mental health is key to good overall health!
