DoH denies directive to stop counting deaths

THE Department of Health on Sunday denied reports it ordered hospitals to stop counting the number of patients who died from the coronavirus disease 2019 as the country reported its biggest single-day count of virus fatalities.The number of Covid-19 cases rose to 4,648 with 220 cases added on Sunday.

Vergeire said not reporting the death toll is also against the interests of the government, saying, “It is important to keep track of how many have died so government agencies will know the next steps to take.”
