There have been 14 more deaths from coronavirus, the Department of Health has confirmed. The death toll now stands at 334 people. In addition, there are a further 297 additional cases of Covid-19 from the backlog of tests at the laboratory in Germany.

Earlier today, the chair of the Epidemiological Modelling Group advising the National Public Health Emergency Team said there is a "real danger" of a second wave of virus cases, if the changing of restrictions in place is not done correctly. The Taoiseach announced on Friday that the Covid-19 restrictions will be extended for a further three weeks until Tuesday 5 May.

Infectious disease specialist Prof Sam McConkey said the enforcement of a two-week quarantine for people travelling from areas affected by Covid-19 to non-affected areas could become "the new normal" in the future.

Look at HSE figures for 2016-2017 flu season ...over 1000 are reported to die from flu in Ireland during a severe flu season and those stats are not exaggerated... go question.

Curious to know why the average age is never reported, only the median...a lot of people might assume that means average. The median can hide some pretty important information on how dangerous this disease can be to younger people

One of biggest tasks ahead will be when Ireland hopefully get enough control on the virus to allow some form of normality, what do we do to stop the virus coming in from UK which is now likely to be still in bad way at that time.

We’d want to be seeing more than 14 deaths a day to justify an additional 3 week extension. Don’t get me wrong, it’s brilliant to see the deaths falling but after another few days of this, people will start losing patience.

It’s remarkable that for every hospitalised covid case, a little over one healthcare worker is falling ill. Not sustainable. We will run out of nurses soon enough at this rate.

If we were approaching the peak with total cases staying below 14k, then we would by now be seeing about 240/250 cases a day. We’re not. The trend is about 8-10% day on day increase, with a pretty consistent linearity over the last weeks. We will pass 14k cases in 8/9 days.

Time to disinfect hospital car parks and hospital entrances

TIME NOW TO DISINFECT THE STREETS AND PUBLIC FOOTPATHS WHILST IT IS QUIET AND NOBODY IS AROUND

Why do you not do story this subject? I know 'orange man bad' but he has been kicking sh!t out off [traffickers]

Stay home and stay safe ladies and gents🙏

Does anybody have the figures of how many have recovered in Ireland

Western Europe not faring as well as Easter Europe. Or possibly not as far along the curve.

Sweden with no lockdown has 12 deaths today.

Keeping with the stats before the German results were added (the extra add in skews the day to day pic) 430 new cases is jus over a 5% increase. So that's not too bad. 4.5% is nearly a 1 in 1 out situation. Anything below 4.5% and it will be positive progress in reducing numbers.

Personally, I'm multiplying the confirmed number of infections by a factor of five to gain a perspective that keeps me on my toes. I'm probably more right than wrong.

RIP to those poor people and sincere condolences to their heartbroken families 🙏

💔💔 rip
