Cape Town - The ANC says it "frowns upon" calls seeking to undermine government efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
The Gauteng Liquor Forum has written a letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa telling him that government has until Tuesday to lift or amend the regulation on the total ban on the sale of alcohol or it will approach the Constitutional Court. But ANC national spokesperson Pule Mabe said on Sunday: "The President of the Republic Comrade Cyril Ramaphosa pleaded with the entire nation to make even greater sacrifices so that our country may survive this crisis and so that tens of thousands of lives may be saved. It is incumbent upon all South Africans to really play their part in assisting the government to deal with this devastating pandemic.
The ANC called on all South Africans to abide by the lockdown regulations as well as precautionary measures which were announced by government as part of curbing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
No!! It’s a sacrifice in all areas for the great of good ...let’s just get this over with.
Did u say 'we'
Lift the Lockdown and OpenSAforBusiness
They need to ONLY open bottle stores in a controlled manner and controlled times!!. Lift the ban on cigarettes as no has killed after smoking. BUT if people dont get to smoke well you gonna have a crisis on your hands. Other countries allow for the sale of these things.
Dont do it cyril
Chelsea_Lotz He's not the judiciary 🤷🏾♂️
Nonsense... ...it goes beyond household consumption. The lost revenue (to government) from the ‘sin tax’ on cigarettes and alcohol are a consideration.
I think people are confusing the primary issue of social distancing with their own beliefs regarding alcohol and tobacco. The main problem is that people want their vices not the associated partying. What I am advocating for is the ban to be lifted is to ease stress of isolation
Count me in, it would be a blow to what lockdown is meant to achieve in the first place. If he allows it, he might as well withdraw the lockdown and let everyone go back to work.
Speak for yourself
We really do.
