Drilon said he agrees there were “low-hanging fruits” the government can immediately tap to provide the much-needed resources for the country to survive this pandemic.
Drilon was responding to President Duterte’s pronouncement last week that he was ready to sell government properties as a last resort to get more funding for the people affected by the pandemic. The senator recalled that during the Senate Committee on Finance’s hearing on the budget of the Department of Finance last year, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III admitted that privatizing the gaming industry would yield around P300-billion in additional revenues yearly.
