British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has thanked staff at a London hospital for taking care of him while he recovers from coronavirus.

"I can't thank them enough. I owe them my life," Mr Johnson said in a brief statement issued late on Saturday.

He was moved back to a normal ward on Thursday. When the prime minister will be able to return to work remains unclear.Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab is currently in charge of running the British government, with aides reportedly expecting Johnson to be out for as long as a month. He has received thousands of get-well cards from well-wishers and daily letters from his pregnant fiance Carrie Symonds while in hospital.

I hope the PM gets out of hospital soon so that he can channel his gratitude into helping UK healthcare workers save more lives. The shortage of essential PPE needs to be urgently addressed. If it can’t be bought or made then figure out how to decontaminate & reuse it.

Never forget he was one of the ones cheering in 2017 as they ‘successfully’ blocked a desperately-needed pay rise for nurses...
