The global death toll from coronavirus has passed 101,000. There are more than 1.6 million known cases of infection but more than 372,000 people have recovered, according to the Johns Hopkins University tallyAustralia's Deputy Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly says Australia is probably on the cusp of slowing coronavirus to the point where it could die out

"Unfortunately extended families can’t get together in households either. That is something that I really want to stress," she said. "We are nowhere near out of the woods. The worst is yet to hit us. But the early signs are encouraging that the restrictions are having a positive impact. "Those tests are not unexpected given the COVID on the ship and I just want to stress that there is a combination of those that are recovering [from the disease], and as part of our recovery process, we are testing them for clearance as well as those who have got some mild respiratory symptoms," she said.
