The assessment regarding the impact of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in curbing the transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country is expected to be released this month, an official of the Department of Health (DOH) said.

“Ayon po sa mga experts na tumutulong sa atin na suriin ang data, mid-April pa talaga natin malalaman kung nagkaroon ng epekto ang ECQ—nag peak o nag slow down ba ang mga kaso at iba pang mahahalagang impormasyon,” said Special Assistant to the Health Secretary Dr.Beverly Ho.

This includes the procurement of personal protective equipment, identifying more community quarantine facilities, and arranging the staffing schedules in hospitals. “The extension until April 30 gives us enough time to achieve two main goals of the ECQ. First is to slow down the transmission and spread of the virus. This is what we have been calling as flattening of the curve. The second goal is to increase the country’s healthcare capacity,” she said.

Duque said that they would also look into traditional Chinese medicine as possible treatment for the dreaded disease. “Kagaya po ng ibang complementary medicine, tinitingnan po ng ating mga eksperto kung ano ang maaring maging gamit ng Traditional Chinese medicine laban sa COVID-19,” said Duque.
