COVID-19: Police arraign 202 fitness addicts - The Nation Nigeria

The Police in Lagos has arrianged 202 suspects for having group fitness exercises in disregard to the stay-home order of the federal government.

Aged between 15 and 42 years, the suspects were charged with violating the social distancing directives of Lagos State Government contrary to Regulation 8 & and 17 of Lagos State Infectious Disease Regulation 2020. It is an offence punishable under Section 58 Public Health Law Cap P16 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.According to a statement by police spokesman Bala Elkana, 189 of the suspects pleaded guilty to the one-count charge brought against them while 13 pleaded not guilty.

10k fine is too small. For endangering their own lives, lives of their families and Nigeria as a whole ,they should be made to scrub the streets of lagos with brush,dettol, bleach and brush as part of sanitizing the streets
