He passed away Friday night at Memphys Hospital in Enugu.
The member representing Oji River state Constituency in the Enugu House of Assembly, Jeff Mbah, confirmed Ugochukuwu’s demise.“It is a great loss to both Enugu State and Nigeria. We are talking about a renowned Professor of Surgery who has a lot to offer in turning around the health sector. It is a terrible blow”, he said.
Mbah disclosed that the don recently returned from the United States and was doing fine before the sudden relapse.The late commissioner, who hailed from Oji River, later recovered and concluded his work in the College.He, however, lost the fight and died at a hospital where he was receiving treatment.
