US President Donald Trump said if his administration didn’t take action against the coronavirus, 2.2 million Americans could have died - instead projected a possible 100,000 to 200,000 deaths.

This comes after the country’s top infectious disease expert Dr Anthony Fauci warned up to 200,000 people could die from COVID-19 following the government’s latest measures - a sharp decrease from original projections without action. “Think of the number, 2.

2 million if we did nothing, if we didn’t do the distancing,” Mr Trump said at a press conference. “When I heard the number today I felt even better about what we did, with the $2.2 trillion ." Mr Trump added “if we could hold that down to 100,000 - it’s a horrible number; maybe even less”. President Trump disputed claims he said the country would be "reopened" by Easter and instead said it was nothing more than "aspiration".

ain't over yet buddy 😟

What happened to his 15 will be Zero and it will magically just disappear stance.

Is that why numb nuts called it a hoax in February?

He's setting expectations of millions of deaths.. BUT because of his action ONLY 100k to 200K people will die. His inaction is responsible... The US is so screwed.

Yeah 100k-200k is not that many 🤦‍♀️

I'm old enough to remember when trump announced 'only' 15 cases in the US and said they had it under control.....just to save the stock market.
