New South Wales Health Minister Brad Hazzard says he's "mortified" members of the public have been stealing hospital supplies, as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in the state. "I am mortified to hear that in some of our hospitals people are actually stealing hand-cleaner and other items that will keep our frontline staff safe," Mr Hazzard said.

The state has 1,791 confirmed cases - an increase of 174 patients. The minister said hospital workers are being hampered in their attempts to save the lives of the public. New South Police have also issued 11 fines to people breaking isolation and social-distancing orders since new measures were introduced to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
