The municipal government of Taytay, Rizal confirmed Sunday the death of one of two coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the town.

In a Facebook post, the Taytay Public Information Office’s statement said: “Ang isa po ay pumanaw na sa ospital at agad na na-cremate sa St. Peter Crematory. Matapos and pagsusunog sa mga labi ng babae na taga-Barangay San Juan ay dumating ang results ng kanyang test mula sa DOH RITM na nagsaad na positibo sya sa COVID-19.”

The statement further read that the other COVID-19 case, also from Barangay San Juan, was immediately brought to a hospital in Ortigas Avenue after experiencing symptoms, and later the Department of Health confirmed that the patient was positive for COVID-19. The local government of Taytay is currently monitoring 11 persons under investigation and 106 persons under monitoring .
