Coronavirus leaves 55 dead in the UK after toll rises by another 20

‘However, the disease is now accelerating and [55] have sadly now died. Our hearts across this whole House go out to their families.’Mr Hancock repeated promises made in the budget last week to give the NHS ‘whatever it needs’ to fight the disease. Mr Hancock said emergency legislation will be introduced to Parliament on Thursday which will give the Government new powers to keep strained public services running.

‘We’ve set up a dedicated team to do this and we’re hugely encouraged by the scale of the response so far.’
