Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy has written to GPs urging them to work to the guidelines on who to refer for coronavirus testing, as there is 'extreme pressure' on pathology test kits covid19Aus

Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy has written to GPs urging them to work to the guidelines on who to refer for coronavirus testing, as there is "extreme pressure" on pathology test kits.

Chief Medical Officer Professor Brendan Murphy addresses the media following a Council of Australian Governments meeting in Sydney last week."Unfortunately, the extreme pressure on our personal protective equipment stocks continues, and the situation regarding pathology test kits, reagents and swabs is deteriorating rapidly, with kits no longer being available in some regions of the country," Dr Murphy wrote.

There was already community transmission and some people were not being tested because they did not meet the criteria, allowing them to mingle in the community for weeks without symptoms, Dr Armstrong said. As of 11am Sunday, there were 134 reported cases of coronavirus in NSW, with 22 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

Not professional compared to his title. We need to search more information ourselves on Coronavirus and make decisions. If test kits are not enough, he needs to solve the problem buying kits overseas or make Australian medical labs to creat more instead of limiting testing number

This is why Australia should have closed boarders much earlier. Two months on it is now not acceptable to tell GPs & the community that Australia is not prepared & capable of handling the cases open boarders has created. Again past stupidity catching up.

So what happened to all those masks you said you had stockpiled.......

Honestly he sounded like a babbling twit... Probably said important stuff, but...

Oh lord, my GP did this weeks ago, they are more organised than this fool.

Can’t we have someone better who can handle this? Who take decisions based on their knowledge, not under political pressure. Gym and Handshakes are must to avoided... he says we are not at that stage yet ? & our count is above 260+ 🤦🏻‍♂️

Since there are not enough test kits, legally enforced self isolation for 14 days for those who have been overseas will help to reduce transmission

Would really like it if the CMO refrained from touching his face every time he appears as a spokesperson or at official COVID19Aus updates auspol

You mean no test no coronavirus?

Is it possible that the real problem is that the number of people needing to be tested are not going to be?

Is it just me, or does our chief medical officer look like the poster child for being unhealthy. Do we have a Chief Wellness Officer? where’s she/he at? Someone call them. Stat. 🦠 this doesn’t bode well coronavirus

Thought we were ahead of the Coronavirus curve. Just wait to this virus spikes in Australia.

Test more or shut off more. You got to do one thing. Look at USA. Do you even have a plan to scale up the test? What happened to the “world class science”here?

Yet you have GP’s who clearly have no idea on what to do, sending patients with no advice and or information into ED waiting rooms potentially infecting others, no ppe or advising of self isolation. RACGP

So if we have run out of test kits, we are by definition, under reporting, as we have no kits to test with. What’s happening to the people who present at ED and should have a test, but wait, there are none? Just sent on their merry way I bet. She’ll be right mate.

Sensible advice.

We are done!

Yet south korea has tested OVER 250k people. Our government is too stingy

Does everyone forget that everything costs money. Scientists and leading doctors have been voicing concerns for decades over the preparation of a pandemic. Is it surprising that all the global leaders did not want to invest millions in an foreseen global scale emergency?

The people getting tested that have no reason to get tested, would be the same people panic buying toilet paper. No politician is going to be able to stop this. It is individual common sense, need I say anymore?

'Extreme pressure on test kits' Our failure to act quickly means we have no test kits Our CrimeMinister might as well be in Hawaii

Scumo,s.....

Uh oh

Not prepared as usual
