Victoria records its first community transmission coronavirus case

Victoria has recorded its first case of community transmission of coronavirus, as the state's health authorities expand their list of public exposure sites and schools prepare to deliver classes online.Community transmission is infection of a person who has not returned from overseas travel or been in known contact with a confirmed case

The number of coronavirus cases in the state has risen to 36, which includes the case of"community transmission", or infection of a person who has not returned from travel overseas or been in known contact with a confirmed case.

Victoria's chief health officer Brett Sutton said visitors to confirmed exposure sites at the times indicated should be aware of their health and seek medical advice if they felt unwell. In a statement addressed to parents today, St Michael's Grammar School in St Kilda said students would be sent home with an iPad and additional online resources so they could continue learning without interruption.
