MANILA: China was the Philippines' biggest supplier of imported goods in January 2020 with 25.5% share to the total imports in January 2020, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Tuesday (March 10). This was revealed as the Philippine Department of Health (DOH) said on Tuesday that nine more people have tested positive for the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 33.

According to PSA data, import payments from China amounted to US$2.37bil, from US$2.04bil in January 2019. Data from the PSA showed the country's trade deficit stood at US$3.50bil, 10.7% lower than the US$3.92bil deficit in January 2019. She said all new patients are now confined at different hospitals in Metro Manila and New Clark City in Pampanga province.Vergeire said there are no new Covid-19 deaths in the philippines, adding the 86-year-old American and 62-year-old Filipino male patients are in critical condition due to pre-existing conditions or medical conditions prior to contracting the coronavirus. Both patients are in"guarded condition," she added.
