A school in Sydney’s north west has closed its doors today after a student contracted COVID-19.

The child’s parent reportedly works at the same hospital as an infected doctor in Ryde. The 53-year-old doctor tested positive to coronavirus on Monday and since then NSW health has been trying to work out how many people he’s been in contact with.

The 16-year-old boy's diagnosis prompted the Year 11 student's school, Epping Boys High School, to shut down for the day as a precaution. All staff and students have been asked to self-isolate this weekend and carefully monitor for any symptoms of the virus. Meanwhile, a second worker at the ‘Dorothy Henderson Lodge’ aged care facility has tested positive for coronavirus. The nursing home now has four infected residents.
