Police are warning members of the public not to approach a man who escaped from hospital yesterday and is known to be dangerous.

Jamal Carroll, who news.com.au understands is dangerous and absconded while undergoing mental health treatment at Ryde Hospital, is now being actively sought by police.

NSW Police said today that people should not approach Mr Carroll if they see him, but should call police immediately. A spokesman for NSW Police told news.com.au the man was not being treated or tested for coronavirus. Mr Carroll, 35, was last seen on Wicks Road in North Ryde heading north towards Coxs Road on foot, after he fled Ryde Hospital.Jamal Carroll is known to frequent inner Sydney suburbs.Source:Supplied

He is known to frequent suburbs in inner Sydney including Woolloomooloo and Pyrmont, NSW Police said in a statement this morning. Mr Carroll is described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance and has a solid build. He has black, long hair that’s been shaved at the sides. He was wearing khaki shorts and a green T-shirt when he was last seen.
