A day before the observance of Fire Prevention Month, a huge fire struck two sitios in Barangay Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue City where at least 320 houses were razed.

Fire investigators are checking reports that a butane explosion was the cause of fire which started around 11:40 a.m. last Saturday.

Echavez said with the declaration of state of calamity, the barangay will be releasing calamity fund to assist the fire victims. The fire broke out at 6:29 p.m. and was contained at 6:37 p.m., said Senior Fire Officer 2 Marisa Cariño.The fire allegedly started at the house of Jimboy and Mary Anne Ybanez.
