Mary Cease’s legal use of medical marijuana led to her being denied federally subsidized housing.

When she got to Indian County in 2018, Mary once again found herself seeking federally subsidized housing.

Mary appealed the housing authority’s decision twice, but was turned away each time. And in April, a Court of Common Pleas judge gave her the same answer. How medical marijuana has changed her life While still taking the legal but potentially deadly painkillers, Mary described herself as lethargic. She lacked motivation to do everyday tasks and rarely found herself in the mood to socialize with anyone other than her emotional support dog, Bridgett."I’m able to do a lot more now than I could before – I can go to concerts. I can spend a day at the library. I can go shopping. I can visit friends," Mary said."It’s just, it’s endless. I have more energy.

Her lawyers argue that under the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act discrimination for using the medicine is prohibited, and the only class of people prohibited from residing in federally subsidized housing is sex offenders.

Anyone who knows the federal govt knows that “legal” has nothing to do with Policy in a Dept /Agency. 2 completely separate things. Last I heard USG has not legalized pot. Shoulda read fine print

Because drug warriors are thugs and criminals.

That's what happens when states decide to do something without the federal government

Pick your poison... the trump admin will screw you anyway they can

Despicable.

Warrior? She sounds more like a victim.

This is horrible.

Shameful.

That decision is based on carpet bombing Cambodia.

go on channel and watch 3rd video

They found the exception to the rule

Smh

It’s medicine. And the feds need to recognize that.

My girlfriend is a property title examiner notary and lawyer and she is unable to assist individuals or so homes that have been used in the production or use of medical marijuana. Weird situation. Our local city council refuses to acknowledge state law.

Absolutely disgraceful.

Investors own these housing developments, not the Gov or The USA Today. Investors put up millions $ for this and probably DO NOT WANT POT in or on their properties. Feds say its illegal. I agree with the Feds.

Law's must be changed !!

Unfortunately the Fed's haven't caught up with the states on legalizing it.
