Beyond being an incredibly badass female tech entrepreneur who starred in a documentary about female founders, calledThuy Thanh Truong wearing traditional vietnamese ao daiIn 2016 at age thirty-one, Thuy was diagnosed with terminal genetic lung cancer while shooting a movie in Vietnam. In the years following, Thuy bravely fought her disease while continuing to work and stay as active as possible.
Only when she was going through chemotherapy and she lost her hair would people realize she was actually very sick. Since Thuy was so instrumental in my own career and personal development, as she was with countless other entrepreneurs and tech employees, I wanted to share some of her favorite advice to remember her and celebrate her life.Even before Thuy was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, she was continuously crossing off her bucket list. She had already checked off many of her entrepreneurial goals before turning thirty, and had been on the cover of Forbes Vietnam for making their “30 under 30” list.
I was fortunate enough to meet Thuy early in my tech career at 500 Startups, and she quickly became like the sister I never had. Not only did she encourage me to carve my own path in business and life, she taught me female entrepreneurs can do anything.
