Canada's chief public health officer, Dr. Theresa Tam, says she's assessed each member of the medical staff and concluded they are not at risk of exposure to the virus. She also says they followed appropriate infection prevention and control protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment, and did not have unprotected contact with the passengers who were flown to Canada and are now in quarantine at Canadian Forces Base Trenton.
There are currently 213 passengers under quarantine for 14 days at the base and Tam says none have exhibited any symptoms of the virus. Under the Quarantine Act, Tam has the discretion to determine, on a case-by-case basis, whether to shorten the quarantine period based on an assessment of the risk of harm to public health.view larger image
