Hospital Authority Employees Alliance is demanding brorder with China be closed

Representatives of the Hospital Authority Employees Alliance and other activists hold placards in Hong Kong on Feb. 5, 2020, calling for the full closure of border crossings from mainland China.Medical workers in Hong Kong began a third day of strike action on Wednesday, piling pressure on the city’s government to seal the border with mainland China as the number of locally transmitted cases of a new coronavirus increased.

The latest virus has spread rapidly in China with nearly 25,000 people infected and 490 deaths, most in Wuhan and the surrounding province of Hubei. Thousands of medical staff have joined members of other trade unions this week and the city’s Hospital Authority has warned that emergency services are being severely hampered.

Some pro-democracy protesters have come out in support of the HAEA strike with some demonstrations beginning to take on the characteristics of the pro-democracy protests.

We Hongkongers support them.

So tiring...

I support them striking. In order to prevent a community outbreak of coronavirus in Hong Kong, it is necessary to close the border. We cannot allow unlimited infected people to come to Hong Kong, there is just not enough medical capacity for Hong Kong to deal with an outbreak.

Support Hong Kong medical staff go on strike. HongKong government doesn't care about Hongkongers and keep the borders with China open.

Sadly the gov still does not close the border, which is the most effective way to avoid an outbreak. And the staff still can't receive material supply. Now it says it will check the people coming from China. But it said nothing on details abt how they can manage that many people

I guess that the medics are right.😢 If the Hong Kong Government does not ban visitors from mainland China, there would be WuhanCoronavirusOutbreak in our city. It looks like that the outbreak is happening.🤬🤬

Being one of the HongKongers , I fully understand and support the strike of the medical worker. They are not fight for themselves, not fight for increasing welfare or salary or etc., they are fighting for the health of the whole city. I fully respect them!

Patients and medics shall be in risk of nCoV2019 infection if government doesn't CloseTheBorders entirely

The strike does not ask for money but just to ban more infected Chinese tourists to go Hong Kong 🇭🇰 and take planes to the other countries. And also request for enough masks and equipments. They are gonna save more lives actually. coronaviruschina

standwithmedics

They are not qualified for doctors and nurses.

They’re not striking for a higher pay. They’re not striking because they are cowards. They’re striking because the puppet govt refused to completely shut borders with China. If the refusal goes on, it’s the world who shut HongKong out, but not the opposite. WuhanCoronovirus

Not a good time to strike

china unleashes their bio weapon and there are NO sanctions against them for their crime whatsoever

Do we know for a fact that the people protesting are healthcare workers? Or are they paid protestors funded by China to influence public opinion as occurred in Vancouver at the hearing for huwei executive, Meng Wanzhou?

These protesting so-called medical staff are simply selfish. Glad that many Hong Kong healthcare professionals are still putting patients in priority and covering the manpower shortage.

shame
