JOHOR BARU: The Johor Health Department has denied allegations on a Facebook post that claimed 74 people from China have been quarantined at Foresty City due to novel coronavirus outbreak.

The department in a statement on Saturday said that it has lodged a police report regarding the matter.

“The distribution of fake news can be charged under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities,” it said.An additional RM1,000 fine could also be imposed for each day the fake news is spread after conviction.
