Malaysia’s palliative care unsatisfactory, says health minister

Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad says Malaysia's palliative care level is unsatisfactory even though awareness of the service has improved. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, January 11, 2020.

PALLIATIVE care services in the country have been less than satisfactory and need immediate improvement, said Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad. He said this is due to the lack of facilities, specialists and treatment centres, although the level of awareness of palliative care, especially for children, is showing improvement in line with the implementation of the National Pediatric Palliative Care Initiative in 2012.
