Sharon Leonard had to stop seeing her GP of 30 years for follow-up cancer treatment appointments, when she found out the sessions weren't bulk-billed.

Sharon Leonard visited the same GP in Launceston's northern suburbs for about 30 years before her breast cancer diagnosis.About half of Tasmanians face out-of-pocket costs when they see their doctor, meaning a regular GP visit may be out of reach

"I was crying because they wouldn't listen to me and understand I can't afford to come all the time," she said."It was very hard for me having chemo and being ill for six days at a time, and knowing I needed to go to the doctors' but not having the money because my husband has cancer too."

Sharon you and your go to the biggest hospital and go to the emergency ward..You should get a better chance in seeing a specialise. Go girl don't wait any longer.

Absolutely outrageous. More should be done to ensure more bulk billing is available, then again Liberals are in charge, and no matter how many times they say they want Medicare, they would honestly love to see the back of it.

When I read news like this is when I miss Spain the most. Primary health care is operated by the health department in the same way hospitals are. GPs salary is paid by gov. No “gap”. All covered by “medicare”

Surely the medical fraternity would provide gratis care under these circumstances?

Hello ah don’t recall that

Gees there also under our responsibility Have you ever felt Ill and had no where to turn We are all vulnerable Your lack of compassion is frightening

. Preventive health reduces the flood upstream. How often during the 30 years did the doctor check cadmium, arsenic and other environmental toxin levels (hair analysis), levels of cancer-accelerating cortisol, protective serum antioxidants, prescribed adequate UVR for vitamin D?

How good is our health system?

That's discussing

If we had a Labor government they would both receive cancer treatment

ABC, always on the side of bringing welfare dependant refugees by the boatload , draining our finances ... Then put out the sob story about lack of medical funding for Aussies . Bloody decide who’s side you are on .

What is this non sense?

That’s appalling. The GP could always bulk bill special cases.

Australia is well-off enough to afford treating our sick. This is a disgrace.

Bless them both. Prayers for Health Healing Hope Peace and A Financial Increase 🦋🦋🌻🙏❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸

Living on Newstart

Socialised medical care is always shit.
