KOTA KINABALU: A message claiming that there are 40 new H1N1 cases being referred to a hospital in the city is going viral, but the state Health and People’s Wellbeing minister is saying otherwise.

The only new case is one that involves a woman who arrived from Kuala Lumpur on Jan 2.

The 33-year-old was warded at a private hospital on Jan 5, and Poon said she is in a stable condition and recovering well. “Her closest contacts have been found free of any form of H1N1 symptoms, ” he said in a statement here Wednesday .The Sabah Health Department also explained that the H1N1 of Influenza A is part of seasonal influenza, and its symptoms are similar to that of other normal seasonal influenza.H1N1 can be prevented by vaccination.
