So far, there are no signs of an outbreak, says state health director Dr Aman Rabu.

The reported cases of influenza infection in Johor are still under control and thus far there are no signs of an outbreak, says state health director Dr Aman Rabu.

However, he said, monitoring was still going on, to ensure that the situation remained under control. “Thus far there are no signs of an outbreak. There are different types of influenza – A, B and C – but we are not focusing on any specific influenza as our monitoring is comprehensive as long as it involves respiratory problems and colds,” Aman told reporters in Johor Bahru yesterday evening.

Asked whether the state Health Department had recorded any case of 'mysterious respiratory-related illness' which hit people in China in Johor, Aman said no reports had been received thus far. However, as a precautionary measure, they conducted health screening at the Senai International Airport to identify tourists or individuals from China with fever symptoms, he said.
