2,312 compounds issued in first 5 days of smoking ban

A TOTAL of 2,312 notices with a compound value of RM554,400 were issued by the Health Ministry to smokers and eatery owners who violated the smoking ban, in the first five days since the ban came into effect on January 1. Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the notices were issued during checks conducted at 29,903 premises nationwide.
