In other examples, a child at the same hospital was given incorrect morphine over the course of a day, an adult at the Mackay Hospital was mistakenly given more than double the required units of insulin and another patient at the Sunshine Coast was administered morphine in milligrams instead of micrograms.

I think that it is a mistake of the knowledge of the medical person concerned that the amount of the medicine administered by the digital disorder was mistaken. It is human to enter data into a computer. If you have any questions, you should check each other.🤖≠100%

Good journalism would be comparing before the electronic system was implemented and after. There were medication errors before this system! This just highlights poor work practice and not following policy from staff facts

This is a deeply flawed, alarmist piece of fake news. The new system, based on electronic medical records, has been shown to reduce the cases of patient harm by a factor of at least 10 compared to the inefficient, paper based systems. Similar to finding in UK and elsewhere.

Personally I want treating specialists and hospital doctors to speak with my GP in person or by written referral. My records will never go public electronic.

Typical Australia buying on the cheap Hospitals and health systems in both the public and private sector are willing to pay big bucks to fund EHR implementations to optimize patient care delivery In 2017, Mayo Clinic – invested well over $1 billion in integrated EHR technology.
