Since opening in 2011, LauraLynn has cared for more than 365 children and their families, helping to support them through their child’s illness and beyond.
To remind you why LauraLynn is such a worthy receipient of Christmas spirit this year, Michelle Williams talks to one of the many caring nurses at the hospice Now, Ireland’s sickest children don’t have to wonder whether angels will meet them when they leave this world. For the angels are right here, tirelessly working round the clock, in this colourful, heavenly oasis just off the busy Leopardstown Road, in Dublin.
“It’s hard, yes, but I’m not sad or never feel sad working,” says Divya. “We are here making happy memories and trying to make a really hard time a bit more bearable for the families. It’s holistic nursing and symptom management. We’re not trying to cure the children but we’re here to treat the family in every way – their physical, emotional and psychological well-being. Our work is to try to restore the family.“Just like the families, we take it day by day.
