NHS hospitals not inspected for up to 10 years as regulator blamed

Streeting declares Care Quality Commission 'not fit for purpose' after a report found the regulator is unable to effectively judge the quality of health and care services

The review is being led by Penny Dash, chair of North West London Integrated Care Service, who was appointed by the Department for Health and Social Care on behalf of the Cabinet Office. It forms part of the the Cabinet Office’s Public Bodies Review programme, which was launched in 2022, with the aim of reviewing 125 public bodies and saving the taxpayer around £800m over three years.
