'The incident was very unfortunate and I am deeply sorry to those that were impacted,' Andrea Khanjin says after July 19 incident in south Barrie

Barrie-Innisfil MPP Andrea Khanjin, who's in the final trimester of her pregnancy, is apologizing after crashing her vehicle into a south-end child-care centre last Friday.

In the online statement, Khanjin, who's in her second term as MPP and also serves as province's minister of the environment, conservation and parks, said the crash was the result of a "medical emergency." She also noted she remained at the scene following the crash, where she not only received treatment from first responders, but also “co-operated fully with authorities.”

BarrieToday reached out to Guiding Stars Child Care Centre for comment, but a supervisor said she was “advised to not comment anymore” on the incident.
